GA 197 & Hogpen Gap
September 18, 2021
The National Weather Service published predictions of a wet weather system materializing in the mountains for the next few days, so I had to plan a shorter than normaly day ride. I decied to scout a few "shortcuts" and back-backroads as well as hit a few favorites. A very pleasant morning greated me and the C14 as we made our way south and east out of Towns County. The C14 was purring (she loves the cooler weather helping to keep those big jugs at optimal temps) as we surfed the ribbons of perfect mountain roads through the North Georgia countryside.
Batesville JunctionAlways love a great place to stop and take a break and Batesville is a perfect little crossroads. There are a few little store and a small restaruant nearby to hangout and/or meet-up. Today, it was just a quick stop, drink and roll back northwest.
A few quick stops along the way for some pics and meeting my latest mantra of "stopping to smell the roses". The loop back to home base was equally smooth and refreshing. Another great day on two wheels in the Smokies.
